Requirements
Candidates must hold a Certificate of Competency such as RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore or STCW Master for vessels under 200GT. Additional qualifications include an Approved Engine Course or STCW III/2 for Small Vessel Chief Engineer, Basic Safety Training, Medical First Aid, Medical Care, and training in survival craft and rescue boats. A course in Small Ships Navigation and Radar, an MCA approved stability course, ECDIS Model 1.27, GMDSS, and STCW II/4 for Navigational Watch are also required. STCW II/5 for AB is advantageous, along with a medical certificate compliant with NOR regulations.
