For ERO 2nd, a minimum of one year as ERO 3rd and three years overall experience as Officer of the Watch on DP vessels or drilling rigs is required. For ERO 3rd, at least one year as Officer of the Watch on DP vessels or drilling rigs is necessary. An Engineer Officer Certificate Class 4 or a certificate of similar standing (STCW III/1) is mandatory. Responsibilities include ensuring operational preparedness of safety and emergency equipment, maintaining equipment and spare parts, and conducting thorough handovers at each shift change.
