Requirements
Candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in environmental science, natural resources, marine science, or a related discipline. A minimum of five years of experience is required for Lead Marine Mammal Observers, while two years is necessary for Marine Mammal Observers. Certification as a JNCC approved MMO and/or BOEMRE approved PSO is mandatory, along with OPITO approved BOSIET or FOET training. A valid Norwegian Maritime Directorate (NMD) Medical and/or OGUK Medical is also required. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are essential, as well as self-motivation and attention to detail. The role involves preparing various technical reports and the ability to work independently. Candidates should be prepared for potential remote fieldwork, including night and weekend shifts, and must be adaptable to challenging weather conditions.
